Our school offers a comprehensive academic pathway through the full International Baccalaureate continuum, which includes the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP). XWA Nursery Programme (Ages 18 months to 2 years)

‍XCL World Academy’s Nursery Programme is designed for children aged 18 months to 2 years as a foundational stage before entering the IB PYP Pre-Kindergarten. It is inspired by IB principles and emphasises inquiry-based, play-centered learning to support social, emotional, cognitive, and motor development. The programme helps children build independence, confidence, and school readiness, ensuring a smooth transition into the IB PYP framework.

Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 (Ages 3 to 11)

‍The early years at XCL World Academy are focused on developing strong academic foundations, social-emotional confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Students follow the IB Primary Years Programme, an inquiry-based curriculum designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and character development. Learning is hands-on and engaging, helping young learners build independence, resilience, and confidence from an early age.

Our purpose-built Early Years and Primary facilities feature age-appropriate science labs, libraries, outdoor play areas, and creative spaces that support exploration, discovery, and learning at every turn. Our language acquisition programme offers Chinese, French, Spanish, and Japanese Home Language options, along with a Bilingual English Mandarin track that promotes cognitive flexibility and global competence. For students new to English, our English as an Additional Language (EAL) support ensures smooth integration and continuous academic progress. Social-emotional learning is embedded throughout, equipping students to express themselves confidently, collaborate effectively, and build strong, positive relationships.

Grades 6 to 10 (Ages 11 to 16)

‍At Grade 6, students transition into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), a rigorous and internationally recognised curriculum that encourages independent thinking and global awareness. The MYP offers a broad range of subjects, including Mathematics, Sciences, Individuals and Societies, Language and Literature in English, Chinese or Japanese (depending on grade level), Language Acquisition, The Arts, Design, and Physical and Health Education. Our language acquisition programme includes Chinese, French, and Spanish. For students new to English, English as an Additional Language (EAL) support ensures smooth integration and continuous academic progress. Social-emotional learning is integrated throughout to help students express themselves confidently, collaborate effectively, and build positive relationships.

Learning during these years is project-based and inquiry-driven, allowing students to apply their knowledge to real-world situations. In Grade 10, students complete the internationally benchmarked MYP eAssessment and the IB Personal Project. This student-directed project gives learners the opportunity to explore a personal interest while developing critical skills such as research, time management, and communication.

Throughout the MYP, students benefit from outstanding facilities in arts, technology, and innovation, while also receiving increasing academic and pastoral guidance to help them understand their strengths and explore future pathways.

Grade 10

‍Grade 10 represents a pivotal year in each student’s academic journey at XCL World Academy. At this stage, students receive personalised guidance to explore and choose the pathway that best aligns with their strengths, interests and post-secondary goals.

Working closely with programme coordinators and our experienced university and career counselling team, which includes alumni from institutions such as Harvard and Georgetown, students and their families are supported through every step of the decision-making process.

Available options include the IB Diploma Programme, the High School Diploma, Advanced Placement courses or a customised blended pathway designed to suit each student’s aspirations.

Our university counselling experts help families understand country-specific admissions requirements, subject combinations, and course alignment to various university systems around the world. By the end of Grade 10, each student will have developed a well-informed and tailored academic plan for Grades 11 and 12.

Grades 11 and 12 (Ages 16 to 18)

In the final years of secondary education, students at XWA choose between two distinct yet equally respected academic pathways. They may opt for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or pursue the High School Diploma with access to Advanced Placement courses. Both pathways provide international recognition and academic challenge while allowing students to personalise their learning experience.

The IB Diploma Programme is a demanding two-year curriculum comprising six subjects across diverse disciplines. Students also complete the Theory of Knowledge course, an Extended Essay, and the Creativity, Activity, Service component. This pathway is ideal for students aspiring to attend competitive universities in Singapore and around the world, and for those who value a well-rounded and inquiry-based education.

The High School Diploma pathway offers greater flexibility. Students can select one-year courses and build a schedule that reflects their interests and future plans. They may also combine High School Diploma subjects with AP and IBDP courses to create a custom learning path. This option is well suited to students who may be returning to national curricula in countries like the United States, Japan, or Korea, or who prefer a more tailored academic experience.
