Moving countries with children is never just about logistics; it is equally emotional and about building resilience. For Ms. Yukako Nunokawa, a mother of three who relocated to Singapore from Japan, those questions loomed large when her family first arrived. Her eldest son was about to start Grade 1 and spoke only Japanese. Purely English as a medium of education felt daunting. What the family needed was not just an academic programme, but a school willing to meet their children where they were, and help them shape what comes next.

One event captures this spirit perfectly, she remarks: “Language Week is part festival, part cultural exchange; it brings families together across ages and nationalities. Food, games, stories and laughter flow freely, and itis joyful, inclusive. There’s such a strong sense of connection that goes beyond countries and grade levels”.

What stands out most, though, is how the school celebrates courage. Not just excellence, but trying. In contrast to systems that spotlight only high achievers, XCL World Academy normalises diversity of ability, background and ambition. Children are encouraged to share their ideas.
