Find Your Community at XWA

Meet other families, settle into Singapore with confidence, and choose how involved you want to be.

A Community Designed To Help Families Connect

Strong school communities don’t happen by accident, they are built through consistent, meaningful opportunities to connect.

At XWA, the Parent Action Committee (PAC) plays a central role in bringing families together. Run by parents, it organises events throughout the year that make it easy to meet others and build lasting relationships.

Whether it’s a coffee morning, Family Fun Day, Cultural Day Food Fair, or a social group, each touchpoint is designed to help you feel part of the community.

For families relocating to Singapore, these connections often become the first source of practical advice and emotional support. And over time, the parents you meet become the ones you see every day: at drop-off, at events, and throughout your child’s journey.

With a diverse community of 50+ nationalities, XWA offers a truly international network of families who support one another.

Find Your People Through Shared Experiences

Parents at XWA don’t just attend events; they help shape them.

Through the Parent Action Committee (PAC), families come together to create a vibrant calendar of experiences that make it easy to connect, contribute, and feel part of the community.

Across the year, there are meaningful moments to be part of; from the XWA Family BBQ and Deepavali celebrations to Language & Culture Week and the Christmas Giving Tree. Larger gatherings like Parent Fiesta Night bring parents together to celebrate, unwind, and expand their circle.

Beyond events, parents also lead and participate in activities that reflect shared interests and cultures, from tea ceremonies and free English lessons to mindful art, wellness sessions, and Welcome to Singapore meetups designed to help new families settle in.

If you are new to Singapore, connecting with parents from your home country through chat groups can make the transition feel more familiar. And if you’d like to get more involved, PAC offers opportunities to volunteer, support school initiatives, or welcome new families as a parent ambassador.

Whether you join occasionally or take on a more active role, you can expect regular, meaningful opportunities to connect, while contributing to a warm, inclusive community your family can truly feel part of.

Support When Everything Feels New

Starting life in a new country can feel overwhelming; especially with children.

There are everyday questions that don’t have simple answers. Where to live. How systems work. How to start feeling at home. That’s where XWA’s Parent Relations Executive (PRE) team comes in.

They are here to guide you through the transition: connecting you with other families, introducing you to the community, and helping you navigate the practical side of settling in.

Have a question or need support? Reach out to the PRE team at xcl-pre@xwa.edu.sg. They’re here to help every step of the way.

Stay Connected to Your Child’s Learning Journey

Strong parent engagement starts with clarity.

When you understand what’s happening in the classroom, conversations at home become more meaningful, and you’re better equipped to support your child’s next steps.

At XWA, Parent Engagement Sessions give you direct access to the people guiding your child’s education. Led by our EYPY and Secondary Years academic teams, these informal Q&A sessions allow you to explore curriculum, pathways, and university preparation in a clear, open setting.

They’re also one of the many touchpoints where you can connect with teachers and academic leaders and you get to ask questions, gain insights, and better understand your child’s learning experience.

Beyond these sessions, communication is proactive and consistent. Through messages, emails, and calls, you’ll receive timely updates that keep you informed; without needing to chase information.

Be As Involved as You Want To Be

Every family engages differently and that’s exactly how it should be.

Some parents volunteer at every event. Others prefer to stay informed and join in when it suits their schedule. Both are equally valued.

Through PAC, there are plenty of ways to get involved; from helping organise events to supporting community initiatives. But there’s no expectation or pressure.

You might drop in for a coffee morning, attend Family Fun Day, or simply stay connected through regular updates.

What matters most is finding a level of involvement that fits your life; while still feeling part of the community.

About IB, pathways, and finding the right fit.

How do I join PAC or get involved in parent activities?

PAC welcomes all XWA parents. You can start by attending a coffee morning or community event and connecting with current committee members.

How does XWA communicate with parents?

Through the parent portal, email newsletters, and the school app. Parent Engagement Sessions also provide opportunities to ask questions directly about curriculum and pathways.

Can I meet other parents before my child starts at XWA?

Yes. Campus tours include opportunities to meet current parents, and you can request a conversation with a parent ambassador through the admissions team. Many families also attend open days and community events before enrolling.

What support is available for families relocating to Singapore?

The Parent Relations Executive (PRE) team helps new families settle in, from practical advice about life in Singapore to introductions with other parents who've made similar transitions.

Do I have to be actively involved in school activities?

No. Some families attend every event; others prefer occasional participation or staying informed through communications. All levels of involvement are welcome, and there's no expectation that every parent joins committees or volunteers.
