Laying the Groundwork for Lifelong Learning
Our KG1 programme bridges early childhood exploration with the growing independence and structure of primary school. At age four, children deepen foundational skills, build confidence, and begin applying their learning with greater purpose, preparing them for a successful transition into formal schooling.

An Integrated Approach to Early Learning
Our KG1 programme blends academic foundations with meaningful, inquiry-driven experiences to support the whole child. Guided by the IB PYP framework, learning is organised through engaging units of inquiry where literacy, numeracy, and real-world understanding are seamlessly connected.
Through play-based and inquiry-led learning, children explore, question, and collaborate—developing curiosity, confidence, and independence. Early literacy and numeracy skills are built naturally through storytelling, conversation, hands-on activities, and real-life problem-solving, while daily exposure to English and Mandarin strengthens communication and cognitive flexibility.
Beyond academics, the programme nurtures social-emotional growth, creativity, and resilience through a balanced mix of structured learning, play, the arts, and physical activity.
By the end of KG1, children are not only developing essential skills, but are becoming confident communicators, curious thinkers, and active learners, well prepared for a smooth transition into KG2 and the IB Primary Years Programme.
Early Bilingual Foundations
Bilingual learning at XCL World Academy begins from Pre-K and continues through KG1, with English and Mandarin fully integrated into the daily curriculum. Children learn naturally across both languages throughout the day, building confidence in speaking, listening, and early literacy while strengthening cognitive skills such as memory, problem-solving, and flexibility.
Led by Angela Gao, an experienced bilingual educator, the programme is designed to develop strong foundations in both languages from an early age. Through meaningful interactions and shared classroom experiences, students build communication skills and cultural understanding that support their learning across all areas.

The KG1 year is a pivotal stage where children develop a well-rounded foundation of academic, social, and developmental skills through purposeful, inquiry-based learning. Through a holistic, inquiry-based approach, children grow in confidence, independence, and readiness for the next stage of learning.

IBプライマリー・イヤーズ・プログラム(PYP)は、世界中のインターナショナルスクールで採用されているカリキュラムフレームワークです。3歳から6歳までの子供たちにとって、学習はワークシートや反復練習ではなく、ガイド付きの探求を通じて行われます。例えば、「物事がどのように変化するか」を学ぶ子供は、種を植え、数週間にわたる成長を観察し、見たものを絵や簡単な文章で記録するかもしれません。このアプローチは小学5年生まで継続されますので、お子様が小学校で全く新しい学習モデルに適応する必要はありません。
はい。多くのご家庭が、家庭で中国語を話さなくてもバイリンガルプログラムに参加しています。教師は視覚的な手がかり、ジェスチャー、一貫した日課を用いて、子供たちが内容を理解し、同時に言語理解力を高めるのを助けます。英語を話す教師も一緒に指導するため、常に慣れ親しんだ言語でのサポートがあります。ほとんどの子供たちは、最初の学期中に簡単な中国語の指示に反応し始めます。
子供たちは同じ学校内でKG2から小学1年生に進級し、同じIB PYPカリキュラムフレームワークに沿って、多くの場合、慣れ親しんだ友達と一緒に学びます。KG2と小学1年生の教師は、各児童の準備状況、学習スタイル、継続的なサポートが必要な分野について情報共有を行いますので、お子様が小学1年生に進級する際に、全く知らない生徒として扱われることはありません。
科目ベースのモデルでは、子供たちは専用の授業で中国語を学びます。バイリンガルプログラムでは、2人の担任教師のうち1人が、一日を通して中国語で活動、指示、日課を主導します。子供たちは算数、美術、物語、日常の活動中に中国語を聞き、使用するため、言語に触れる機会が大幅に増えます。

幼児教育課程では、すべての児童が中国語専門教師による専用の授業時間を通じて、文字、基本的な筆順、日常会話を学びます。小学1年生からは、生徒は中国語、スペイン語、フランス語の中から学習言語を選択します。日本語を話すご家庭のお子様は、KG2から日本語母語クラスに登録することもできます。
